We finished Term 1 with the best treat..The Canterbury Crusaders came to school to do some rugby skills with us. This was such a cool way to end the term. We did some passing drills, played some short games and then finished with getting a flag each and being able to get them signed.
Welcome to Room Six at Awahono School. We are a class of Year 7 and 8 students, and our teacher is Ms Wilson. We are in Ahaura, near Greymouth, New Zealand.

Buddy Time!
This year we are still really enjoying working alongside Room 1 for buddy time. We have enjoyed reading and writing with them. Together we have created our own descriptive picture book where the children created a piece of writing them drew some pictures to go with it. We cannot wait to share it with you when we are finished making it.

Amazing Race - New Zealand!!
Each week in Room 6 we complete fun activities in groups based on a different country. This week was New Zealand. the different challenges for this are as follows:
- Auckland is known for its skytowner, create a tower out of 10 books. Only two people in your group are allowed to touch the books.
-Wellington is known as the windy city. without using your hands - make enough wind to blow the piece of paper from one point to the other.
These were really fun activities that help with our communication, problem solving and team work.

Archeologist visit!!
Today we were invited down to the worksite for the bridge. They had uncovered something under the road that has been there for over 150 years. Look through the pictures and try and figure out what you think it could be.

Stem Challenge - Boats
In Room 6 we love stem challenges. We love them even more when they're a competition between us and Room 5. Miss Wilson and Mrs Bailey were very surprised at how well all of our boats lasted. None of them all sunk and they all stayed afloat even when rocks were placed on top of them. These stem challenges are good for our key competencies and we all find them really fun.
