Creative challenges.

I knew the children in Room 6 were creative, but my gosh, i have been blown away by the creativeness of the children through lockdown. The children in Room 6 have been given challenges throughout lockdown that required them to make their dream house, or design a garage for Mrs Wallace's cars. They have all done a great job completing these tasks.

Daffodil day.

Children in Room 6 have been creating some great pieces of writing. They have completed the 100 word challenge, a time capsule challenge and a free write challenge. Here are some of the creative pieces of writing in Room 6.

Room 6 have been creating some great book reviews over lockdown too. Here are some of those that were created. Don't they sound fabulous.

Lockdown!

At 11:59 on the 17th of August all of New Zealand when into level 4 lockdown.  But that did not stop the incredible students from Awahono School from completing online learning. On our class blog you will find the incredible work of some of the most resilient learners. I am a very proud teacher watching all of this work coming in to the turn it in sheets.

Here are some A-Z alphabet lists of what the children are doing/feeling in lockdown.

The great debate!

If your teacher was to ask you "do you think the olympics should have gone ahead?", what would you say? Would you be for it , or against it?

This was the questions that the children in Room 6 were asked. The children then had to spend the week researching and figuring out which side they were in. They had to come up with statement and research facts for our great debate.

On Friday we completed the debate. There were many great opinions and big personalities in the classroom. We all shared our points and engaged in a very full on debate. Here are some pictures of us  before we started and some of the points we had.

Medals

This term we have been looking at the Olympics. We have been watching the games and studying the different medals the athletes received.

We got in contact with Paul Coll who is a professional squash player. He won two medals at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in 2018. He let us look at them and wear them too. Now it's got us wondering, are the medals at the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics similar? We will have to track down someone that went to the Tokyo Olympics to find out.
