ASB Netball practice.

 We have a team of 9 students heading into town on Monday 24th of August to compete in the ASB netball tournament. What better way to practice than to verse a team of competitive teachers. It was a very tough game as the student team was full of energy. After the first quarter they gained a nice lead. However the teachers made a come back in the 3 quarter. As the teachers started to get tired the students never lost their energy and ended up winning by 2 points. Overall it was a fun game full of heaps of laughing. 

 Today we helped Sue out in the garden. We are looking at how we can use different objects in the school garden. Sue located a range of things we could put to great use and asked Room 6 if we could help her move them. Keep an eye out for a photo of these different resources and how we have used them when planting different plants. 

We had two teams from Room 5 and 6 that entered the West - a - Maths competition in Westport this year. They all competed well and Mrs Lyford commented on how well they followed the 3R's outside of the school grounds. Congratulations to those that competed, we are all very proud of you!!

 Today Room 6 was lucky enough to join Room 5 on their farm visit to the Coates Farm. We were so lucky and learnt so much while we were there. We went into the deer sheds to see how the velvet was removed and then went into the shearing sheds. This was a great learning experience out side of school that is related to our term 3 topic. We are investigating the science behind our food. We will be sharing our own investigations on our blogs soon so keep posted. 

In Room 6 we are so lucky to attend technology days at Greymouth High School. Look at these superstar bakers. They managed to make pizzas and brownies, from scratch!!!

Each week the children in Room 6 are set tasks for Homework. Last week they were challenged to research the 7 continents. They had to create a poster with a fact about each continent. Here are some of the wonderful posters created.

Room 6 was so lucky to have some super writers come down and share their work with us. We loved listening to the wonderful stories Room 1 had written. We can not wait to go and share our writing with them next time. Look at the pictures of us all buddied up.
